Recommended Fabrics: For a classic jean jacket, a non-stretch 10-11oz denim is ideal. For a less traditional look, you may also use medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton twill, linen, linen blends, or wool blends. Directional prints such as plaid or stripes may require additional yardage.
Notions: Thread: regular and topstitching, denim/jeans needle, 1 yard medium-weight woven fusible interfacing, 14 metal jeans buttons (Dritz brand not recommended). Optional: Wash Away Wonder Tape (see page 8 of instruction booklet), topstitching needle.
Skills learned: Bar tacks, contrast topstitching, flat fell seams, installing two-piece sleeves, installing metal buttons, sewing a collar.
Difficulty: I believe that if you set your mind to something, you can accomplish it. My fully-illustrated 35-page instruction manual will walk you through every technique, teaching you along the way. I have also included sections on how to sew a flat felled seam, how to shorten or lengthen a pattern, how to fit the pattern, as well as cutting layouts for each view and size.
