Happyyyy Fridayyyyy! We’re so close–can you taste victory yet?? You will next Monday/Tuesday as we insert the sleeves and install the hardware (my FAVORITE part)! Today, we’ll finish up the bodice and sleeves separately as we add the cuffs and waistband.
Begin by cutting the cuff fusible interfacing in half lengthwise. Fuse interfacing to one half of the wrong side of the cuff.
Placing right sides together, fold the cuffs in half lengthwise. Press the long end of the non-interfaced half toward the wrong side by 5/8”. Sew the two short ends together, backstitching at each end. Clip the corners, flip the cuff right side out and press well. (I like to stop and distress here before it gets attached/topstitched!)
Place the non-folded long edge of the cuff against the raw edge of the sleeve, right sides together. The cuff’s folded edge will be facing out. Pin and sew the raw edge of the cuff to the sleeve.
Flip the cuff down, press the seam allowances toward the cuff, then tuck them into the cuff, under the pressed long edge. Take time to align everything and pin well (or use Wash Away Wonder Tape!).
From the right side, topstitch around the entire perimeter of the cuff at 1/8” from edge (you will sew a complete rectangle).
Repeat for second cuff and waistband. Fuse interfacing to the wrong side of the waistband half with back tab placement markings. When attaching the waistband, align the notches at center back.
This is where we close out for this week. See you Monday to install the sleeves!
